Slender Mongoose: Behaviour
Solitary, but a collective territory may be defended by coalitions of up to four males. This territory may encompass the ranges of several females. Related and unrelated males are included in these coalitions. Territories are not shared by adult females. Both the male and female offspring disperse to find their own space.

Thanks for all the comments
RP, are you sure about it being a yellow, not a slender? What are the characteristics that would let me distinguish the two? I went back and posted other pics that show the characteristic black tail tip for the slender, as well as the white tail tip for the yellow. I always see pics of the slender w/ a pink nose and the yellow w/ a black nose, so that's why I was also confused.
(I will go back and edit that pic out after I receive more input from everybody.) Thanks so much for teaching me, teach!

According to "Field Guide to Mammals of Southern Africa" the chestnut-red color form of the Slender Mongoose is found in the Kalahari thornveld of the Northern Cape and southern Botswana.
If someone has pics of the other color form(s), please post them. Would be interesting to see the variations.
