JOHANNESBURG – Kruger National Park officials say that visitors to the reserve need to respect the animals following an incident where a woman pushed a lion out of the road with her vehicle.
The incident was reported on Thursday but the accused had left the scene before rangers could attend to the matter.
The park’s William Mabasa says the provocation angered the lion, causing it to scratch the car and chew on the bakkie’s tyres.
“Unfortunately, we got the report so late that when we sent somebody to the scene we couldn’t find her. We need to follow up on this woman because we can’t accept this behaviour.”
He has asked anyone with information to come forward.
Mabasa says if the woman is found, she will be fined and possibly banned from the park.
It’s not known whether the lion was injured in the incident.

Re: Woman shoves Kruger Lion off road with car - Attacked
The more concise Beeld version says a woman tried to nudge some lions out of the way near Croc Bridge on Thursday. One got irritated and attacked the car, scratching it.
There is mention made of a Fortuner spotted having its tyre changed by SP near CB, that same morning, where the male driver mentioned to the tour operator coming past that a lion had bitten the tyre.
Obviously the same incident...unless there was a general rebellion by lions in the area that morning?

Maybe he must ask the SP people who fixed the Fortuner's tyre?

Come on RP, do you think they can think that far??

Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.

Maybe it's not the same bakkie, and the lion took revenge on the poor Fortuner later?

The story has changed a bit...
Some media had reported a second incident involving a lion and a car, but Mabasa said it was one and the same event.
