Any one with kids under the age of 18 take note. You will need it to leave or come into SA as from the 1 july This goes for SA citizens or people coming in from any other country will have to have a birth certificate stating Father, mother and ID or passport numbers.

My trip nearly went Belly up and have been fighting with Home Affairs. All you get is 6 to 8 weeks for it to be issued. That goes for all the local post as well Swaziland and Lesotho

We also have friends who have been battling with this new ruling. I can fully understand the reasoning as a method for helping prevent child trafficking, but they should have seriously thought a bit about how long it takes to get the right documents from home affairs first

PJL this was only announced on the 22nd of May that it will be law from the 1 July as far as I know. It was not advertised or placed in the media as far as I know, Lucky so saw it on a 4x4 forum where someone had taken a photo of it and warned the members that side

I also spotted this on news24. I have mates who applied more than 6 months ago for an unabridged birth certificate and are still waiting. It’s been extended until September as millions in tourism could be lost.

Home affairs needs to get their act together before this will be viable.

First time I heard of this new law luckely We did not have to travel out side SA borders with small kids
