Thank you all for the comments, Lisbeth, Bushveld Jock, Bushcraft, Nan, Okie, Amoli, Flutterby, Richprins, Bush Brat & Tina.
The pair continued to mate right in front of us. The male biting at her nape.
Copulation over, they both wandered even closer and settled down for a while.
The male was restless and moved position. Luckily for me, the sun came up over the horizon to sidelight his mane in all it's glory.
Meanwhile, she just rested and looked nonchalantly in our direction.
What an experience this was. To be up close to a pair of lions. The noises they made were incredible!
Just after I took the last pic. Cars started to arrive, so we continued on for a bit before heading back to camp for a well earned breakfast.
