South African National Parks (SANParks) confirms that a body of a male estimated to be in his early forties was discovered in the Western side of the Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site on Saturday the 23rd August 2014 by Rangers who were on patrol.
According to SANParks spokeswoman Divhani Maremba, it is believed that he might have been trampled to death by an elephant. She said preliminary investigations have revealed that the man, who is believed to be a Zimbabwean National, was in the company of a group as numerous foot prints were discovered in the vicinity of the incident.
Maremba said a Zimbabwean passport and a cell phone were discovered in his possession. A police investigation is under way.

Thanks for the post Flutter.
Interesting that it made the news. Maybe a fresh reporter in the area.
I would think it happens very often with no fences, people on foot and Tuli Elephants. Was wondering should Ebola spreads down and panic send people through the Limpopo how will we manage it.

Also thought that this must happen quite often without making it into the news.
