The camp was occupied when we returned



the tame crows paid a visit

and another first – a rock dove



which was caught later and brought to Mata Mata.

I did not expect to see the next first – our neighbour in the riverbed

and then the afternoon drive to Auchterlonie brought another first – pearl-spotted owlet

showing the false eyes



and having an itch

and there was even a second one very well camouflaged

while we were watching the owlets, another car approached and we were told about a cheetah with cubs between Montrose and Rooibrak. When we arrived Hanri was still there and the cubs were having dinner
