Another Short Long Weekend - September 2014

Before I start my TT for our November 2014 trip to the Kruger I thought I'd better do the TT for the long weekend we took in September.

It all started when my Mother hinted that she and my Father probably wouldn't get to the Kruger again because it was too far for them to drive at their age. I spoke to the SO and we agreed to swap in some of our timeshare points and take them for a long weekend (12-15 September) at Ngwenya Lodge on the Crocodile River.

An early start on Friday saw us on the N1 and N12 a little before 06:30, just in time to catch the beginnings of the rush hour. We got to the Lodge at around 12:00 only to find out that the check-in time is now 16:00!!!!

We completed the documentation and after extracting a promise that they'd call us as soon as our unit was ready, we headed off the Croc Bridge for some coffee.

Time for me to get the macro lens out and go bug hunting :-)

A Paper Wasp.

Thanks to Toko, I have IDs for the following wasps...
Toko wrote: This beautiful Ichneumonid is a Syzeuctus sp., possibly Syzeuctus peringueyi

Toko wrote: This one belongs to the subfamily Cryptinae (family Ichneumonidae)

Toko wrote: And this wasp is not an Ichneumonid, but one of the Braconidae, subfamily Doryctinae 0'

A Female Cherry-Eyed Sprite Damselfly (?).

And an Maid Alice Moth Amata alicia.

After a what seemed like hours, we finally called (just before I got a call from them) and found our unit had just become available so we headed back to Ngwenya to unload the kitchen sink etc. and then headed back to the Park for a short drive.

The light was pretty dismal by that time and as we only saw the usual stuff, I didn't take any pictures except for a silhouette of a Whitebacked Vulture.

Are you challenging the judgement of our identification fundi?   So, if they are both the same, what are they; Ichneumonidae, Braconidae or something else entirely?
