The English names of many bird species found in Sub-Saharan Africa were changed a year or two ago, to fit in with the capitalist politically-correct elitist anti-social socialist bourgeoisie imperialist twitcher way of seeing things these days...
I say NO! And Roberts and Newman would turn in their graves, I tell's ya!
So as a part of the resistance within the revolution within the resistance against the regime, herewith a selection of proper names!
All fellow revolutionaries are welcome to add!

Thick Knee
This must be the stupidest name in the history of birding!
It is obviously a Colonial attempt to ridicule the also silly name of "Dikkop"...but we made the name first, so there!

So, RP, are you saying that the birds names should revert to the original names given to them whrn they were first discovered, or only to the names in the field guide you own? Or to the local names used in your region, but not necessarily the rest of S.A?
So is it to be Crimson-breasted Shrike, Gonolek or Boubou?
Are you a splitter or a lumper here?

Dewi, I still refer to this bird as a Shrike. It was BTW the bird that got me into bird watching.

So now it is a mocking-cliff chat....!?!
Who is Cliff?
Sounds like some facebook page!?!
Adding an extra name costs thousands in ink all over the world..did the sociopaths ever think of that??
Preposterous, unless there are hundreds of cliff-chats, and this one missed the boat?
