Those red duikers are great little antelope to see, the one you saw was not as shy as the ones I've met. lol

Despite RP implying that some of us have rabies, the plovers are a kittlitz's and a Grey. \O

Looking forward to more pics from you here. 0()
Thanks Dewi. May I ask why you say it is a Kittlitz's, as two guys on a different forum ID'd it as Common Ringed? I thought it was Kittlitz's at first too?

I think, it's a Common Ringed Plover. The white neck ring does not meet the white eye-stripe and the outer wings have lots of white.

No worries.

I should have said that I was referring to the one ID'd as a white fronted plover and not the ringed plover.

But I still got it wrong. 0*\ =O:

Correct Toks, I was saying that, but made a boo-boo and I was wrong. It is a white fronted plover. 0*\ :o0ps:

Thanks Guys. Definately need more birding books...

Let us continue though.

Walking back, I noticed again how the muddy water from the river seems very reluctant to mix with the sea water. I heard somewhere it has something to do with the salinity, but I am not sure as it mixes well in the river, which is pretty tidal?

This is the strip of beach between the sea (right) and the river (left), as seen looking toward St. Lucia:

Looking up-river, between the dune and campsite (on the left) and the islands, of which there are a series:

Close by the entrance to the campsite, I found a few Blue-cheeked Bee-eaters (another new species for me):

Back at camp, we opened a packet of my mom's home-made rusks, and immediately had a beggar:

Spectacular! I love the first pic of the water and the bee-eaters are not bad either ;-)
