In Germany I saw the barn swallows mostly in flight and when they finally perched, a car chased them away

wire-tailed swallow

12-14 cm; 10-15 g; a tiny blue-backed swallow with a chestnut crown and white underparts. Long, very thin tail streamers often difficult to see. Appreciably smaller than white-throated swallow, with only a partial breast band; entire crown (not just forehead) rufous, and longer, narrower tail streamers. Flight extremely rapid. Juv is less glossy blue above, with a brown crown; underparts washed buff. (SASOL)

This species is widesprad in most of sub-saharan Africa and is also common in Asia; in Southern Africa, it occurs in Eastern KwaZula-Natal, Mozambique, Gauteng, Zimbabwe, Northern Botswana and in the Caprivi.
This one is from Sunset Dam, Kruger National Park.
