What about a suricate or shall I rather talk of a Meerkat - always digging and reversing out mostly standing on the back legs therefore less spoor of the forefeet.

The answer is.... a squirrel! Because a squirrel doesn't hop, but bounds... and why is there no footprint at times? Well, if a tree squirrel, the track will stop at the tree.
