Whoooop deeee doooo I have very good internet access here in Hogsback. Sitting in front of a lovely log fire on a cold evening so it is time to play catch up.

18 APRIL 2015 - DAY 3 - CLARENS TO CLOCOLAN - PART 1/4.

Our accommodation in Clarens was a very basic accommodation which was a double garage in years gone by but it served us well enough.

A lifer for us. An African Red-eyed Bulbul in the garden.

Image

A Speckled Mousebird.

On the road to Fouriesburg.

We had to take a bit of a detour to get to this bridge crossing the Mopedi River near Clocolan.

Side on view.

Tried a bit of artistic photography on the railway line near Clocolan.

18 APRIL 2015 - DAY 3 - CLOCOLAN TO WEPENER - PART 2/4.

Nothing much seen between Clocolan and Wepener so just before Wepener I took a turn off to go photograph the old road bridge over the Caledon River.

Seen from the western side.

Seen from the northern side.

Image

Seen from the eastern side.

Image

The new bridge over the Caledon River.

Image

Then in Wepener is this bridge over the Sandspruit.

Image

Please help to ID this raptor seen on the road.

18 APRIL 2015 - DAY 3 - WEPENER TO ALIWAL NORTH - PART 3/4.

A tranquil country landscape scene.

Image

Another raptor on the roadside needing an ID please.

Image

Joan got this shot of a Black-shouldered Kite.

Image

The main bridge over the Orange River at Aliwal North.

Image

I think this is a Southern Pale Chanting Goshawk.

Image

I will slip this photo in here - seen somewhere en route.

18 APRIL 2015 - DAY 3 - ALIWAL NORTH TO BADFONTEIN GUEST FARM - PART 4/4.

These two guys sat up to watch us pass by on the way to the farm.

Image

The view from our rondawel.

Image

Common Fiscal.

Image

Please help ID these two guys.

Image

We went for a walk around the farm and came across this which we have not seen in many years. Joan made it over with ease.

Image

Image

I just could not resist taking a photo of this clump of bulrushes in the late evening sunlight as the last photo for day 3.

Thank you also for your lovely comments.
