As I was saying.....
Then we got to "The Hill"!
If you look carefully, you can see the road climbing diagonally up the side of it.

"The Hill" was really a freaking MOUNTAIN!
We were headed up to the top of this......

And the road looked like it climbed at 45 degrees.

But the views were staggering; this was from about halfway up.

Near the top - anyone got any Coke?

And a LBJ.

At the top; a view that Zeus would enjoy! We had climbed over a kilometre from our start at Bontle Camp.

The view into the valley with the road snaking through it.

Lifer number one. Malachite Sugarbird.

The birds were so used to Humans that they were under our feet. I had to back away from them to focus.
Rock Bunting.

Lifer number two. Buffstreaked Chat.

Lifer number three. Cape Rock Thrush.

Cape Vultures from the nearby colony.

Lifer number 4. Scalyheaded Canary.

Wichgraf's Hillside Brown Butterfly.

Painted Lady Butterfly.

After a fantastic breakfast with SM & Skillie, we headed back down the mountain, Skillie offered to let me go first but I said I'd like him to be in front so I could crash into him if my brakes failed!

Bird Festival on the rocks
And you got even a photos up the vultures which are usually only small dots high up on the sky
The "hill" is a phantastic site for a picnic, I hope you had some snacks with you
For me one of the best views in SA and your photography does justice to it

Yes, the road is tarred so that the aerials and towers on the hill can be accessed.Richprins wrote:Good gravy! Is that road tarred?![]()
