Wow Mel that field of yellow sure is impressive.
Very interesting to see another part of the world.

The weather looks lovely and I love those yellow fields
What a pity that you got there in the middle of the regatta. Not so much for the regatta in itself, but because of the crowd, the wheel ruining the view and the terrace under your windows. On the other hand, I don't think that you will spend much time in your room looking out of the window
You are almost in Denmark

Re: Long Weekend Break at the Baltic Sea
Thanks nan, Alf, steamtrainfan and Lis for checking this out and for your encouraging comments.
Lis, the noise level is bearable since we're on the fourth floor and the view could be worse in a different apartment, namely one that over looks the building site which is located basically half left behind the ferris wheel. Plus, we've got a balcony that goes around the corner, so if we're fed up with people staring at us from the ferris wheel, we just move around the corner.

Some impressions from another part of the town... It's called Borby and the people in the main town and the people living there are not best friends, we learned from a local last night. Local rivalry, I guess.
Just imagine to own one of those houses...
One of the narrow lanes in Eckernförde. Such a pity that cars are allowed there.

A mural painting in the restaurant we had dinner last night. It shows the old wooden bridge
that links the before mentioned Borby (to the left) with Eckernförde (to the right)

Re: Long Weekend Break at the Baltic Sea
Since we're are at the sea, it's hard to avoid fish and we actually like it
The SO had halibut with local vegetables and stamped potatoes:
And I had the very same stamped potato with a traditional sailor's dish called labskaus.
It basically used to contain left overs mixed together to make a mash of some sort.
These days it is made with corned beef, onions and potatoes and it comes with gherkin,
beetroot, fried egg and a sour marinated herring (which I only eat on bread rolls but
never ever with that dish because meat and fish don't got together for me...)
