Why go to a game reserve when you can stay at home? ^0^

Mel wrote:Cape Fox is awesome! They were around on our trip apparently, but apart from Uri and one other brief sighting we never saw any in the road. :O^

And you only learn to appreciate steenbok shots like that after you tried to get something decent yourself. Did not happen for me.
Those bokkies just wouldn't want to stand still and always ran off as soon as the bazooka came out. lol
I was very pleased to get shots of a Cape Fox and I agree, Steenboks are really difficult to get, I think they purposely wait until the camera comes out then run away!

Just caught up Blu Tuna :o0ps: :o0ps:

Your pics are superb, and I love all the little things as well.

Beautiful big lions, and the snake interaction was awesome. I wonder Why the puff adder didn't bite back :-?

Glad to hear your Blu Tuna is mended and on the road again. What an inconvenience 0*\ 0*\

Friday 25 September. Nossob -> Twee Rivieren.

Our last full day in the KTP and it's a moving day.

We found some wildlife under and around the tent while we were packing up.

A Thick-tailed scorpion - there are several species with potentially lethal venom in the KTP. This was the only Scorpion I spotted during the trip, despite my Scorp-torch patrols!

A Huntsman Spider.
Image

A Kalahari Sand Snake which was in a hollow just behind the tent. It was a good thing that it wasn't something more dangerous as I'd stepped over it several times before I spotted it.

At Rooikop there were two sleepy lionesses blocking the road.

At Kaspersdraai, a Bateleur and an Oryx.

An African Hoopoe, often seen in my garden.

Not sure what sort of snake this is.

A brand new Springbok.

At melkvlei Picnic Spot - Spot the animal! (hint - this is the reason the signs say you may get out of your vehicle at your own risk).

The answer to the above question will be answered later....

Meanwhile....

After we'd set up camp at TR (in 40 degree heat!), I went off for an afternoon drive up the Mata Mata road. It was a good drive for birds.

Secretarybird.

A Tawny Eagle flypast.

Black Korhaan.

And another one of those black snakes!
