The wildest thing we saw on our one and only bush walk (in KTP) were recent lion spoors

Re: Its a WILD life....
Ok, I have another one...
In April 2012 we had a short 3 night stay in the park. We entered at Phabeni and decided to take the S3 river road to Skukuza. If you've been on that road you will know that it is very narrow and at that time of the year the bush is thick and grows right up to the road. On our previous trip in October 2011 we had seen our first black rhino in Kruger, but because we were so excited and made too much noise it ran off as soon as we stopped! So, when we were on the S3 and I saw what I thought was a black rhino about 20 metres in I quietly told my dad to stop and reverse slowly. As we reversed I bent down to pick up my camera when the Brat suddenly screamed "It's charging!"
I looked up to see the rhino rapidly gaining ground. My dad didn't have time to change gear so he just put his foot down and carried on in reverse at top speed until he reversed into a bush and we were forced to stop.
Thankfully the rhino also stopped but he was so close to the car's front bumper that we couldn't even see its head!
The rhino then looked up and slowly backed away. When he had moved off to what we thought was a safe distance my dad took the chance, put the car into 1st and accelerated slowly so as not to upset him. However, this didn't work and he came at us again, this time side on!! The Brat and I screamed at my dad to "GO, GO, GO", with the rhino only inches from my door, and we eventually left him in our dust.
When we were sure we were far enough away we stopped and stared at each other. Our hearts were beating madly and we were all shaking. We still don't know why he didn't ram us as he was touching the car, but we were thankful he didn't. While we were stopped a car approached from the front and we waved them down and warned them about the very irritable blackie around the corner! As we drove off, a kudu stepped into the road which got the Brat and I screaming again!
