Phew! I have just now caught up on the rest of your trip Nan.
Sorry to hear of all your car problems. I know exactly how you felt after our recent trip.
Brilliant sightings and photos throughout, especially the raptors.
You were also very lucky with the cats. I love the AWC pics.
What did the Kalahari Scrub-robin on the braai taste like.
More please.

The new car arrived around noon
a woman was driving the truck on which it was perched.
Upon leaving, there is not much space at KK to turn around with a truck and make the route backwards is not a solution either ... again problems ...

We put everything in the new car.
Stupor instead of a fridge, there was a tank

... I could now make over 1000 km without refueling but again I lost everything that was in the fridge of Eric, who brought it all ..... and remained in the fridge Willem ...
I go back north towards the loops, these loops I missed during two days away, my favorite in the park.
I came across 3 Cheetahs, 1/2 km north of the junction for KK. I waited again for hours, to have the legs 2 Cheetahs, the third never wanted to get up. Is it the same 4 I had photographed a few weeks ago, less one who seemd to go very wrong
No ! this is new ones for me: Choo, Fancy and Benny ...
I met my old car on the truck doing the opposite traject.
A guy stopped to tell me that there are Lions to Auchterlonie, but I was just too busy with my "loves". And I didn't even go to the loops

Choo(right)Fancy(stand up)-Benny(left)

the driver outside at Cheetahs sighting

The next day again, to the northern, the loops.
A large raptor flies over a group of giraffes, wow this is a young gymnogene.
Nobody stops, except for Lions, what may interest them... running after cats ? (I think of Itumeleng)

juv Gymnogene

Long-tailled Paradise Whydah, again

Sparrow with a big trophy

Swallow-tailed Bee-Eater

Kalahari Scrub-Robin

Lesser Grey Shrike, big discussion with a lady who was sure it was a Pigmy Falcon

the rest of the flat chicken... at last

Wow! on the Lanner photos

I have spent so much time trying to catch one "in the act", so I know how difficult they are to capture (the pics, as well as the prey).
I don't know what to say about the car problems - they should offer you a discount or free days in the future for good will, as well as good advertising that when something like this happens, they are willing to go the extra mile to address the misfortune.
Ostrich tutu - hilarious!
I like your idea of having "a sailor in every port"
