JHB - Lower Sabie

Leaving Skukuza we saw this cutie with mom looking on.

Image

Even though we had lots of time before we could check in to Lower Sabie we decided to head straight down the H4-1, hoping something good would hold us up. This kudu had some impressive horns!

Image

Image

We weren't sure if these hippos were alive or dead - we watched them a long time and didn't see any movement, but we did see plenty of hippo carcasses over the next few days! :-(

A little ellie having a snooze. ;-)

Nyala with a broken horn.

Good pics, Flutts! \O

Ja, interesting the oxpeckers on the first "dead" hippo, wonder how long it takes for ticks to "abandon ship" as it were? -O-

If those hippo weren't dead, I'm pretty sure they were shortly after... O-/

More lovely pics Flutt's. ^Q^

Sad about the hippos, but they are capable of bouncing back in numbers when conditions change. \O

Not sure where to start really -O-

The feeding Kudu is great, the nyala despite the broken horn is totally handsome, love the little ellis snoozing,
and mongeese ( O** ) are always a winner O:V

(I shall try to ignore the uncertain and sad parts...)
