HAZYVIEW -The R538 is open and safe for motorists after police managed to restore order. Police spokesman Col Mtsholi Bhembe said yesterday police went in from both sides of the road and cleared the way for motorists. “We got some heat from the protesters who attempted to close the road again, but this led to 23 people been arrested for public violence.”
He said police had to take a firm stance in upholding law and order regarding protests. “We cannot have protesters becoming out of control. Public safety has to be upheld at all times.”
