The drive up from Port Elizabeth was nice and smooth. Along the way we made an essential stop at Nanaga farm stall to pick up some of their delicious pies for lunch later in the day. We were starting to feel very relaxed as the scenery unfolded before us

Fortunately the roadworks on the N10 near Cradock are pretty much finished so there wasn't any waiting around, and before long we were welcomed by the park entrance and a friendly member of staff

It was too early in the day to check in, so we planned a bit of a drive straight away. The chap on the gate suggested that the lions had a kill at a certain point on Rooiplaat loop so we aimed to head up that way then back down to camp to unpack.
