Hope no one minds me starting this thread.
First time I drive this road in December 2013, I really did not rate it.
The first few km along the Sabie has plenty of elephants. And the last few km as one approaches Croc Bridge had a few herds of Zebra and Wildebeest.
But the bulk of it was dense bush, with nothing to see
Fast forward to December 2014
Decided to give this road a try again.
And how wrong I was. Saw the Big 5 in 1 drive and doggies (I think this was the pack that died from distemper ). Plenty of game in the more open streches. Kudu and Giraffe in the denser parts.
I admit it...I was wrong

Excellent choice, Dzombo!
Indeed, a strange road, full of contrasts, ranging from vegetation to sightings!
Will find some stuff!
Thanks for this!

Hi Dzombo,
This was also a road we never had much luck on, until we stayed at Croc Bridge a few years ago....big difference! Will find some pics.

These pics were taken about 10 minutes after entering the park at Croc Bridge in February 2015. It was SO's first and only trip with us and he spotted the lions.

The road passes through three distinct vegetation zones:
The red soil area in the south...open veld near Crocobridge
Then a large stretch of extremely dense delagoa thornveld, known as the Gomondwane Bush (the place where the last rhino was detected in the early 1900's before the first extinctiom)
Then quite abruptly back to the extremely open basaltic plains south of Lower Sabie, very rich in game!
