Re: Nikon d5300 or equivalent
Welcome to the forums, Pilanesburg_boy
Unfortunately, I'm not savvie enough to recommend anything but I can tell you that I've got the D5100, which was my step up from the beginners camera D60,
and I'm quite happy with that equipment. However, I'm sure someone better informed will be able to answer in more detail soon. (But don't listen to those
Canon people - just kidding )

I can,t answer on Nikon as I am a Canon user, but what I want to say have you looked at the mirror less camera's . They smaller, cheaper and have a faster shutter speed than the mirror camera's with the same quality and cmos ??

Re: Nikon d5300 or equivalent
Thank you.. I'm still leaning towards dslrs as I've done no research on mirroless and know nothing about it yet.. Will do my research tho and decide but currently still looking at the Nikon d5300 or something equivalent in the canon world for a good body for wildlife mainly and some travel and some landscapes photography...
I'm hoping to find a good deal by this weekends black Friday special or waiting for Christmas specials.

Or maybe someone can tell me if the Nikon d5300 is a good purchase for wildlife photography?

It depends in which league you're in photography-wise, but I'm happy with my D5100 and the D5300 is better than that. So, yes - good for wildlife photography for amateurs who still like nice pictures.

Welcome, Pb!
I think most are Canon people here...not that I can understand the rivalry!

Thanks Mel.. Appreciate your feedback :)...
Thanks richprins.. I'm open to purchase a canon, I'm not really brand sensitive, just looking for different options then when the specials come I can make a good purchase.
And my photography experience is NIL :):)
