I would definitely check that out, as everything I've seen points to Nikon charging for any repair or service after the warranty is complete. In fact, I don't believe a service would ever be free - only repairs for a genuine fault on the camera during the warranty period.

Welcome to the AW forum.

I've always used Nikon (since 1984). Never had a problem with any of their equipment, but then, I'm now biased to them.

Used them in -40 degrees when other makes failed to work.

Used them in dusty, dry desert conditions with never any problems.

If you buy one and get into photography, the kit you have will never be as good as the one you want next!

Best way to make your mind up is to read the reviews online or in photography magazines.

I think I've been over analysing this decision but I have my heart set on d5300.. But with the d3300 been 3k cheaper I might go for that.. Will keep this post updated with my purchase :)

Oh, and one other point....

I dropped my current Nikon in 2011 and since then, I've been unable to see anything clearly in the viewfinder - the info and view is blurred. I trust the camera to focus and do what I ask it to do and it does.

I've dropped my Fujifilm lots of times Deli...no problem!

I have used Nikon since I went digital in 2009. I started with a D5000, got a D5100 about 2 years later when it was released. Both are good cameras and the D5300 is a step up from those. It has the same sensor and focusing system as the D7200 which is an excellent crop-frame camera.

The kit lenses are quite good quality, I had the 18-55mm and 55-200mm option and got some great results. I also had the Sigma 150-500mm which was a good lens for its time but has now been far surpassed by the newer 150-600mm Sigma and Tamron Mk2 lenses.

I would recommend that you go for the D5300 with the 18-55mm and the 55-300mm lenses then tell your bank manager to stand-by because you need to loan 16K to get the Tamron 150-600mm Mk2 lens

Nikon used to offer a free photography course when you bought one of their entry-level cameras, I'm not sure if they still do but it would be worthwhile going on a course to get the basics of photography anyway.

Wildlife photography can be one of the most frustrating pastimes there is but the rewards when you get "that shot" completely outweigh the irritations.

Black Friday special had that special for d5300 with 18-55 and 70-300 for 9800.. Unfortunately I couldn't get to pta for the sale because I was working.
But I guess I'll have to spend alil more or I'll have to see for the Christmas special now..

so I found a canon 5d mark 2 for 15500.
includes
-16gb card
-lower pro bag
-50mm stm 1.8 lens
-shutter count of 55076
It seems good to me orice wise for this type of a camera but what does the shutter count mean any what's a brand new shutter count on this camera?

That's really a good deal? obviously I'll have to pull out another 10-15k for glass :-#
And anyone know what's the shutter count all about?
