We had spotted the rhino a distance away by a water/mud hole and watched him as he slowly ambled up in our direction. By the time he crossed the road in front of us, a few more visitors had arrived. One of them who seemed to want to push in on the sighting didn't turn his engine off Just as the rhino was crossing the road the engine fan kicked in giving the rhino a massive fright. He jumped in the air, ran around some bushes and came charging back directly towards us I hit the ignition and that gave him enough noise to know he was running in the wrong direction, and he quickly turned and shot off into the bush. We were quite awake after that








After 2 sightings in 2 visits perhaps I should get a lotto ticket

There are people who do not think that the animals have eyes, ears and feeling

Maybe the lotto thing is no good, you have already used up your luck for the time being

On my most recent visit we were fortunate enough to see 3 of the 4 tortoise/terrapin family found in the park. Strangely we didn't see the most common - the leopard tortoise

The marsh terrapins are almost always found down by Hapoor...



There were also plenty of angulate tortoise crossing the roads



But most exciting was to see this parrot beaked tortoise - they aren't often seen in the Eastern Cape, and only occasionally in Addo

That is one relaxed blackie! Thought there were skittish like nothing else...

They generally are Mel, but if you're sat there with the engine off the ones that I've seen in Addo are normally fine. However this chap got a huge fright on hearing the engine fan of another car and bolted around the bushes looking for someone to charge. When he set his sights on us I must admit my heart was pounding
