I remember isolated longdrops..you take some small firecrackers along and throw one or two in 5 minutes before "visiting". It chases the immediate vermin away, and sorts the smell for a while.

Can't understand a campsite without water provided...

SO was threatening to throw a small tin of petrol down the longdrop then from a distance throw a lighted match into the hole.
Done it many times in his younger days but we didn't think he should do it here in case he sit the whole thing alight

Very few sites on the Botswana side of KTP had water. Even some of their water holes were permanently dry.
It was a challenge for sure, especially when the water tank didn't fill up properly.

6th Sept

We went up to Unions End.

This was the early morning sun along the way. It was very dry along the Nossob river and lots of the big
trees had died over the years.



We didn't see alot. There were 2 male lions on top of the dunes. Too far for a good picture, but this big boy
came walking across the river, stopped for a clean up then walked right past the car and carried on his way.

First up though was a lanner falcon catching the early morning rays.






This was the first and only purple roller that we saw.


At Unions end there were quite a few birds. A familiar chat with nesting materials.

On the way back at the Polentswa water where some springbok and this close up of a wildebeest.

Just compared whisker spots... We saw that chap at Grootkolk waterhole in the first week of October.
Wonder if he's hanging around to take over that pride because he surely doesn't hang out with the two current guys there
