Brotherly love
Friday 6 January dawned and we set off early northwards towards Kij Kij .
It was going to be a really special day.
Early morning sightings included a porcupine and an African Wild Cat whilst the light was still too poor to get any decent photos.
About a kilometre before the intersection, we met up with this male lion walking purposefully towards the waterhole.
We followed him as he strode up the riverbed
Once we got closer we noticed that there was another lion waiting and contact calling just before the Lower Dune road.
Wanting to see what they would do when they met, I decided to go ahead and wait, positioning the bakkie in a good spot.
We were not disappointed with the outcome.
Talk about brotherly love.
After the prolonged greeting, the pair decided to drink from a puddle of water right next to our car
Our positioning could not have been better
They were so close to us that we could hear them breathing as they drank
After partially slating their thirst, they marched off hand in hand past the Kij Kij waterhole to the natural waterhole/dam just north of Kij Kij
Picture perfect poses as they drank at the natural water hole
We continued to follow them as they carried on north up the riverbed
