I guess that is always the problem in Kruger you are only having 40 kms ahead and you did not stay that long at sightings and you need hours to arrive there - I do have a suspicion that the hours in Kruger simply go faster as I also always do not quite understand where we left that much time. Great that you saw that much lifers already as well

Love the shot of the paradise flycatcher and great that you decided to spent the rest of the day in camp as this place is always a highlight for us

When checking in at Biyamiti, I had to realize that nobody seemed to have bothered to listen to the voice mail I had left the previous evening...
Next time I won't make an effort to call in that we won't be arriving Especially considering how long it took to get the proper number

This is concerning...I wonder if the system pics up that you never entered at the gate? Otherwise, not good news if you get stuck in the bush?

I'm pretty sure, nobody really knew about it and nobody really cared Unless some really quick person who I spoke to, passed my message on. There were lots of them.
So many that I can't even remember who I spoke to. But nobody asked for my name, so quite obviously I haven't communicated with any quick person

Possibly different if you get lost in the bush because to get lost you must be already registered at the gate.

Make it a priority, Flutts. You know that I'm not overly eager on Kruger, but Biyamiti I'd go back any time.
Just a shame that the units for more than 2 people are quite expensive

Not fussed about the lions as I had my share of awesome sightings in the Kgalagadi.
I got something much better instead that I would hardly ever (or rather not at all) see there.

Pumbaa, I swear that 40 km are wayyy longer in Kruger than in the Kgalagadi or in Addo or in Mountain Zebra

10th April 2017 - Biyamiti to Orpen via Satara

Today was the day of the forum get together at Satara, so I was eager to leave the camp at a reasonable time to be able to make it to Satara by noon. With first timers in tow, however, that was a rather ambitious plan Still, we made it in reasonable time to be able to admire the beautiful sunrise.

My first proper wild dogs - EVER!

When we first arrived, we still had a reasonable spot to see them, even though I was able to take photos only through the windscreen. The boys at the back were better off.
But I had traded my spot in favour of their sighting experience. Their parents were still in that Polo while we were driving a minibus which, of course, has a much higher view.
It was a totally enjoyable encounter anyway. However, other cars soon began pushing into our field of vision and I got pretty much p***ed off. Really had to work not to let
out any expletives, seeing we had youngsters in the car
