Day 4 – 16th August 2016

As we had done a long drive the day before, we slept late this day and took it easy. Roxy and Kelly had to go back to Johannesburg, so we said our goodbyes and they headed off home.

First up was a drive on the Kruger Gate road, where we came across a huge herd of Buffalo, they stretched across three valleys and went on as far as we could see.

After that was a small head of Ellies and that was all for the morning drive….

As the morning drive had been quiet, we tried the H4-1 down to Lower Sabie, this was not our day, and apart from the odd Hyena and some general game the rest of the drive was dead quiet.

As the South was not really working for us, we were going north again the next day.

Day 5 – 17th August 2016

As we were going North again up to Tshokwane, then up to the Nwaswitsontso loop and back down the H10 to Lower Sabie, then back up the H4-1 to Skukuza.

At the H12 bridge the Hyena clan was out again, cleaning up the last scraps of the carcass, the small had gone, so could not have been much meat left, just bones and skin.

At Elephant waterhole, there was a breeding herd approaching, we kept our distance and allowed them to pass.

A little further along we spotted a Gymnogene busy raiding a nest

There were regular sightings of general game on the way up to Tshokwane, and after a pit stop, we continued up to the Nwaswitsontso loop.

At the small loop on the way up, where we have seen the Leopard two days earlier, was Saddle Bill and a Lioness

Hey, what sort of a Brown are you not seeing leopard every hour? lol

That gymnogene is very good, and typical! ^Q^

They have flexible "knees" that have been specialised to be able to reach into holes! :-0

Good looking lioness!

The saddle-billed storks have such pretty colours.

Incredible how the hyenas manage to make a carcass disappear, bones and all

Gymnogenes are interesting to watch ^Q^ ^Q^

Those slow days can be quite depressing but then all is forgiven with one good sighting!
