Anybody seen this posted on the SANParks page. Someone trying to resell Sable hide accommodation at a higher rate? If I understand this correctly all the person is adding is a braai, coffee and rusks? How much does it cost to stay at Sable hide normally?

Very clever, Neville.

He is a guide based here in Phalaborwa and as far as I know he does freelance work for SANParks as well.

He probably booked the hide for the said night and paid the base rate for two pax, at R675. Each additional adult costs R310. So, do the math, if he sells it at R940pp he makes a good coupe of bucks for a night in the bush. He found the loophole, so if people do go for it, why not? If he gets no takers, he can treat his SO to a romantic night out in the buff.

Good for him! Let's all do it and squeeze every drop out of paradise. No rules are being broken? \O

Well now what about curry mince jaffles cooked fresh on the skottel right next to the boot of the vehicle to fend of marauding baboons and monkeys at Nkhulu - now that could be a very good business - throw in a bush joe in a polystyrene cup with a sealable lid and you got a good little business going!

Or an ice cream seller walking up and down the road outside Croc Bridge. Maybe we can also squeeze in a fish monger at Lower Sabie O**

The WATS are in free fall (once again), the latest is that it is now stated that this is no different to hotels around the world. With absolute respect this is our heritage not just an hotel!

The thing is, should you start selling food at a picnic spot, authorities would jump on you instantly as it touches the finances of SP and its franchises. No money lost here, so no problem... O**

There always used to be an "accommodation exchange" thread on SPforums, but it was quite clearly stated that no profitmaking was allowed1 :X:
