Just see that I must post photos before I write so this is a bit back to front - get it right as I go!!
These ellies were along the road side near Nata.
The road was generally very good with just the odd pot hole - handy to follow the paint running along the road.
Just where the road had been flooded were there plenty of potholes.
The wide area of cleared bush helped with spotting mainly cattle and donkeys with some game.
A bit late but here goes with a little bit on our trip to Botswana in April.
As with most trips, this was planned many months ago, with bookings made and in cases paid.
Our original trip was 3 nights at Nata Lodge, 3 nights at Xakanaka in Moremi, 3 nights at Vic Falls and 4 nights at Chobe Big 5 lodge.
Two weeks before we were due to leave reports filtered through of rain by the meter in Angola, Namibia and
Botswana. The rivers started flooding. Nata road was flooded for about 800m and the Lodge and campsite were also flooded .
Between Nata and Maun the road was flooded for about 3ks. Third bridge was damaged and Third Bridge and Xakanaka campsites
were closed. Those were later opened with deep water crossings, but all game drive roads were closed. We just thought it was pointless and too risky to go that route. So plans were quickly altered and new bookings made.
I wont do a day by day trip, but rather area by area as there were some very quiet days and quite a lot of repetition.
The border crossing on 1st April was quick and efficient. We got lost in Francistown as all the roads seemed to be under construction. We did some shopping then arrived at Woodlands One Stop to over night. We were the first there but soon it was
full. Our neighbours had just come from Maun and said there was still about 500m of road knee deep in water. Quite hectic
as one couldn't see where the road was going or if there were holes in the road.
The next morning we left for Senyati
