With smiles all round our car we continued up Gorah Loop towards Carols Rest. We came across a herd of kudu including this magnificent chap O\/

Image

At Carols Rest a couple of buffalo (probably the same ones from the day before) were busy sparring

Image

Then they realised that they weren't obeying the signs O** O**

Image

There were also a few zebra mingling around the water

Image

We decided to pay the fox den site one more visit on our way back down just in case they were out again, but it seemed like they had only been out for us early birds... The kudu however were still giving some great photo opportunities O:V

Image

Back near Domkrag some zebra were charging around for no apparent reason 0-

Image

The kids were keen to try out the hyena den but on our way we were stopped by someone who told us we had just missed the lions near Gwarrie. Aardlam and her youngsters had been lying along a fire break and then suddenly got up and dashed into the bush in hunting mode. We patrolled the area for quite a bit to see if we could get any kind of view of them, but there was nothing to be found. Similarly the hyena den area was all quiet so we made our way back to camp to start the packing process.

Along the way back there were a few elephant close to the road including this comical youngster O/\ O/\

This ended up being our very last sighting of Valli :-(

There aren't many places you can get so close to elephants going about their routine O:V

Once we had finished packing up it was mid-morning so we decided to just trundle through the park on our way back home.

The regulars were all around... interesting the different colour variations on zebra within the park :-?

Round at Gwarrie dam there was an elephant doing a submarine impression

Image

There was still no sign of the lions that had been there earlier in the day, but we got lucky round at Rooidam with a very close and clear sighting of one of the hyena youngsters O/\ O/\

Image

Before continuing we told him a few jokes which had him in hysterics ;-)

Image

Down at Hapoor there were still a few buffalo in the area giving us some strange looks

Image

Drinking buddies X#X

Image

Our last stop was for a bite to eat at Jacks where we found an angulate tortoise devouring flowers... apparent yellow tastes best lol

In the heat of the day there wasn't much else to report on our way to the exit. Thanks for joining us on this short trip \O \O

Thanks very much again for these interludes, Peej. Your photography has the extra element of innovation, and you have a very good eye, plus very articulate narration!
