29th Lower Sabie
The previous day had been a very long day with all the border post drama and the drive up from Toti, so the plan was to take a slow drive up to the Skukuza golf club for breakfast and to just relax. Besides the Cow was still lemon with me due to my wild outbursts from the previous day, so the mood wasn’t exactly “social.”
It had rained the previous night so there were a few puddles around and first up was a hyena next to the road having a morning drink.

Next up was an Eagle owl in a tree next to the road and then a lion still snoozing in the bush.

There wasn’t much action besides the odd usual suspect so I started to stop for a few birds which also started to improve the Cow’s pelican.
I’m not sure of this model but I think it’s an Amur falcon and then a fish eagle was having its barbel breakfast.

There wasn’t much else on the go so we headed straight for the golf club, but on arrival I was horrified to find the place all “dolled up” for a function; however the staff now know us, so after a quick chat we were given a table outside to chow at.

After chow we went on a tour of the nursey as the 2 junior rats were nagging to visit and the Cow stalked a tortoise and a couple of swallows having a sand bath while there.

We left the nursery just after 1pm for the slow drive back to Lower Sabie and not much had changed with only the normal gang around so we stopped a few times but never took any pics.
Around 8km from Lower Sabie we hit a massive traffic jam, so slowly approached but nobody seemed to be taking photographs of anything; therefore I asked a guy who looked the most “switched on” and he stated that a leopard was lying flat deep in the bush and that one could only see it when it sat up.
After some frantic searching with binoculars I gave up, but seconds later Hawkeyes shouted “There it is!” and managed a pic of the back of the leopard’s head.
