Already some fantastic sightings ^Q^ ^Q^
Sorry to hear it wasn't such a great trip... but a trip there at all is better than nothing ;-)

Howzit PJL 0/* Ja, not the best trip sighting wise, but 100%, a day in Kruger, even if quiet, is still better than elsewhere in my book \O

Great pics of the Lioness on the road, and that last shot of the male Lion is a real stunner. ^Q^

Klipspringer is always a special sighting in my opinion. \O
=O: =O: Yes, too many lion O** Not sure about our photographic ability though :o0ps:

=O: =O: You may battle for 2 days then because it's mostly lion O** Agreed though for sleeping lion. I still don't understand why some people sit for hours at a lion sighting when the lion are just sleeping, it's like watching paint dry in my book =O: --00--

30th Lower Sabie continued

During the middle of the day period we normally relax in camp, but there isn’t a peaceful spot to hide while staying in the EH huts at Lower Sabie, especially during holiday season as there’s normally a gang of undisciplined kids shrieking and running around and fairly often a soccer or cricket match on the go right in front of the huts; however the nursery was again very quiet and peaceful, so we decided to take an extended break there rather and only left to return to camp via the H4-1 at around 1pm.

Our first stop was for some heron thing, a grey model I think, which got the Cow excited as it was fairly close to the road.

Next up, besides the locals, was a python trying to warm up in the sun and this got me rather excited as they aren’t often seen in the park.

The rest of the H4-1 produced all the normal gang, so we decided to stop at times for pics.

The excitement levels increased just before the S79 causeway as 3 lionesses suddenly popped up in the road and went on a long march. We had scored because they popped out in front of us so we had no cars between us.

The H4-1 is a hectically busy road and it’s even worse in holiday season so in minutes we had a queue of cars on our bumper and the oncoming gang were all trying to reverse along with the lions. A few tonsils behind us also kept trying to overtake to get between us and the lions, so the sighting was rapidly deteriorating into a bun fight; therefore we called it, slowly overtook the 3 lionesses and continued on.

Hawkeyes snapped one last pic of the lead lioness as we were going past.

Our next stop was a forced stop due to a gang of boons who had taken over the road just before Lubyelubye. I wanted out the car and off the road due to the traffic, so I was huffing and puffing, but some junior boons gave us all a laugh as they started scrapping in the road, then made friends and then minutes later would scrap again.

Great shots again, BC!

Ag shame, only three lion sightings for the morning, and everything else. Pity the python wasn't mating, but what can one do? :-(

The baboon is drunk, Rog... 0-

Why not eat leftovers for breakfast, or microwave some bacon and eggs...take microwave along! ..0.. O\/

Ja, I can see that 72 hours without a leopard must be really difficult to cope with lol
(Note to Bushcraft: Don't make plans for the KTP then. A leopard a day is fairy tale stuff there  )

Love the mischievous baboons, the wonderful capture of the heron - and of course some lions in the mix too X#X

Totally right the S21 can be a bit boring but we do prefer to drive via that on instead of via the tar roads :ty:

We are about to enter into a leopard drought of around 72 hours, so it's going to move fast 0:
Poor thing. I feel your pain   We were there an entire MONTH, and saw ONE leopard. :-( Now that's a drought. Of course I don't have your instincts and extreme knowledge of Kruger  , so always enjoy your sightings O\/

The grey heron is splendid, the python very special, and the baby boons absolutely delightful. ^Q^ ^Q^

All in all, enough to thaw the chill in the atmosphere that the trip had begun on 0/0 O0 Here's to you Mrs. Cow for just being you, and keeping it all together. 0/0
