So just over 1 year later I'm deciding to upgrade to a d500 with my current 200-500mm,from the d5300.
Only problem I'm having is that my budget can only afford a second hand one at ORMS used store, now I know they are reputable but it has 38k accusations.. Do you think it will be s good buy with that amount of accusations and I've been doing research and couldn't go find the max accusations it can take?
Any information will be much appreciated

I really want the d500 but at 8-9k less then brand new it's what I can afford for now.

We bought a second-hand Canon lens for my son from Orms...no problems.

You do get a guaranteee don't you?

If I'm not mistaken a 6 month guarantee, I'm just concerned because it's the camera body and it might have issues.
-I'm sure before they put it for sale they have to put it through tests?
-does anyone know howmuch is the max shutter count on the d500?

The D500 shutter has a warranty for 200,000 activations.

I've had mine for 18 months, I use it almost every weekend and have got to 50,000.

it's a superb wildlife camera and is especially good for birds in flight when mated to the Nikkor 200-500mm lens.

I'm not much of a birder but if they there I never miss the opportunity to shoot them.
For wildlofe in general d500 at 40k shutter is still a good buy at 18k?

Not true.

It is rated for that, but this is not a warranty. I learnt this to my cost when my D750's shutter failed three times in 65 000 actuations. The first time it failed, it was still withing the time warranty, and was repaired froo of charge, but I had to pay for the other.

Having said that, I have heard no reports ofD500's failing prematurely, unlike the D750. I eventually swopped the D750 for a D500, and am really enjoying it!

Have you bought your D500 yet ..I have mine for sale at R 16000 with 30 000 actuations plus minus ...TOP condition ..I am going D850 and need to sell
