It were definitely cubs and no adults maybe it is just the pictures that shows the cub older than the other as I still believe that all do have the same age -O-

After a while the second one followed whilst looking back

Image

and so did mom as well

Image

and so only one of the siblings still stayed it was the future leader but it had reasons why the lions drew back

Image

as we noticed a larger herd of elephants coming closer whilst we finally also looked into the direction into where the lions looked.

Image

It was still a bit misty and the mist still hang in the bushes whilst the sun came up and it was simply a magnificent morning in the bush.

Image

The elephants made their way behind the lions into the direction of Gesanftombi and gladly for us the lions stayed but for sure chose a resting place a bit farer away from the road

Image

deeper in the bushes and between the high grass.

Image

We meanwhile stayed already half an hour at that sighting and with the upcoming traffic and the withdrawal of the lions we decided to carry on as we got our shots. The light was still brilliant and for sure we stopped for a beautiful younger kudu bull posing for us in front of a bush -

Image

love that shot with the noisy francolin on the ground

Image

and then we spotted a magnificent buzzard in a close tree and same was

Image

extreme willing to offer us some more than nice poses.

Image

Also on that road the European rollers occurred in masses

Image

and the magpies anyway

Image

and gladly we discovered another black shouldered kite who for our liking took off far too soon.

Image

This year the S28 was one of the best birding roads and we had the honour in spotting also a burchell’s coucal

Image

not far away but as usual near a thick bush. It was extreme windy and so the feathers swirled a bit in disorder.

Image

A family of warthogs crossed the road right in front of us

Image

and gladly for us they posed long enough for us to get some shots.

Image

The road leading to Nhlanganzwani is also for us always an insider tip as there is always something to be seen – Today we saw that masses of zebras there that Timon parked the car and started to snap happily away.

Image

to be continued...
