Saw this under the thatch on the verandah in Skukuza this weekend...any ideas?

Looks to me more like the modems used for doing automatic meter readings (AMR) might be only place they can get signal for sending the readings . Cant make out all the details on the unit from the picture

any chance you can get a closer pic of the writing on the unit can try search for it

definitely seems to be some kind of remote unit maybe it is linked to something for animal control that they can setoff remotely ie a sound or light

cant seem to find any references to that unit anywhere which is strange .Maybe its some kind of a custom made unit just for SANPARKS

Possibly those normally have a small speaker you can see where the sound is transmitted which I cant see on this unit but maybe its on the side .

The AMR part stands for automatic meter reading, so I don't think it's for bats
