An Almost Boring Trip in March 2018...

Post by Mel »

Since I've been struggling with my arm I never got around to work on my photos from my last KTP trip. I still can't spend hours on end at the laptop, but I'll at least manage to show a few of the best things we saw on that trip. There aren't many photos anyway because the arm thing happened on day three of our trip making the lifting of the camera a rather difficult exercise. 0'

My bestest and furthest south Ludwig's sighting ever on the way from Twee Rivieren to Grootkolk

Six nights at Grootkolk, not a single lion in the camp... But the stay started of with a bang:
We saw a spotted hyena walking in from the south not realizing that it had a leopard in tow as well.
I'm still not sure how the leopard missed noticing the hyena. Or maybe he didn't because once the hyena saw him and
tried to chase it of, the leopard patiently sat at the floodlight post until the hyena was done with her business only to
return to the waterhole and carry on drinking! He is the male of Rosa's two cubs but I forgot his name :o0ps:

We were so focussed on the hyena and leopard interaction and on the leopard alone eventually that we missed the arrival
of a brown hyena that walked down the firebreak from the north - right in front of our unit 0-

The only other thing I have to show for those seven nights is a cobra that went up the tree in front of the camp attendant's unit.
Franco had to clean the chalets and made me watch the cobra to insure it wouldn't sneak into his cabin. O**

The title is not promising but the pictures are ^Q^ . What a pity you could not take much more :-(
Hyena and Leopard at the same place is a great sighting. The Leopard seems to be rather young.
