The Tropic of Capricorn Road to the S50 (Shawu Vlei ) is almost a dead cert for Eland ..They are VERY shy and have a desire to run if you get closer than 1000 metres ..I was 350 metres away here and was extremely lucky they didnt bolt but it was a close thing

..Yes 36 kms every morning at 06h00 when I let myself out as only car at official opening and going straight there without stopping for anything ..No shade but not necessary before 08h00 when I left for camp

Tsendze is famous for its owls and has resident African Barred Owls , Pearl Spotted Owls, African Scops Owls and Verreaux Eagle Owls roosting most days somewhere in Camp and occassional visitors of White faced Owls , Wood Owl, Spotted Eagle Owl, Barn Owl . This is the pic of the female African Barred owl who roosted and night hunted from a perch above my bed serenading me to sleep most nights . I never got to meet her more beautiful male partner but he was around as they used to duet each other continually at night ...Surely my favorite small owl
