Thought I would start a thread on its own.

Where are Sharpes Grysbok found in Kruger?
Only the far North?
Are they regularly seen in the South?

The only one I've ever seen was near Punda Maria.

As mentioned in the other thread, Nigel Dennis' Where to watch Game in the Kruger National park says the S52 Red Rock's drive is noted as THE best place in Kruger to see Sharpe's Grysbok, particularly the Northern part of the route, just past the turnoff to the the causeway river crossing.

Other good spots for these shy Antelope are -

The Luvuvhu River drive S63.

Punda Maria, especially the Mahonie Loop S99.

The Mphongolo Loop S56.

Kanniedood Dam Drive S50.

Best areas to look out for them are in thick bush alongside river banks.

I've only ever managed to photograph two individuals, despite seeing them on all of the drives mentioned above. Usually you only get to see part of the animal, and that's usually its backside disappearing into the bush.

I always thought that they were found in thr Punda area only.

But Richprins says he saw one near Olifants. That's a lot further south than I thought they were found.

I did a search for sightings and it would appear that the Olifants-Letaba river road is also a good place for them, with several sightings from Olifants to Balule.

There are also sightings recorded for the Skukuza area as well, this is way out of range from what I've read/distribution maps, but there were photographs. Could be a small isolated pocket of animals living in this area in suitable habitat?

People often confuse grysbok with steenbok and duiker!

Traditionally sightings could have been had anywhere NORTH of Tshokwane, according to one old reference work, but I really think Balule is about the Southern limit.

No ways Skukuza, and would like to see those pics, as they are horrible to try and photograph, as Dewi says!

Don't know about Luvhuvhu being top of the list...never seen one in many years of travels there!

Mahonie loop DEFINITELY the best area...have seen eight or more on one morning!

The furthest south I have seen them is along the Letaba river.
