The Greater Kruger Card app, a state-of-the-art tourist information system, provides discounts for facilities in the area as well.

Not only can up to four people who travel together benefit from the regular discounts on restaurants, activities, and accommodation, but the app also includes free maps of the area.

Tourist safety is a priority

The app provides current information on the region, according to Gerhard Brummer who heads the project.

He told Tourism Update that the Greater Kruger Card app is “centred around tourist safety,” giving users updates on possible interferences such as protests and providing emergency contact details. He added:

“The system is developed especially for the international tourism market. There are various reasons, but the most important is that travelling the Lowveld regions require state-of-the-art secure mapping and very detailed security information. The latter is provided to the traveller directly on their mobile phones.”

Digital Greater Kruger Cards can be purchased from within the app or on the Hoedspruit website, and a percentage of all sales will go towards animal rehabilitation and sustainable environmental programmes.

What is the purpose of the app?

The app supports the card system and provides a list of the facilities on an interactive and easy-to-use map, along with the available discounts.

To easily differentiate between participating categories, the map pins show up in different colours: red for attraction, green for activities and blue for eateries.

The card can easily be ordered through the app for R100, and payment options include the Mobipaid portal and Payfast @ Lowveld Live.

How does the Greater Kruger Card app work?

Use the card to plan your holidays and receive great discounts in the process. Simply present the image of the Greater Kruger Card at any of the participating facilities.

Please note that bookings cannot be made through the app and should be made directly with the facility. The discount will not be applicable if no direct reservation is made.

A complete list can be viewed on the app, but some of them include Africa Silks, Airlink, Clyde Canyon Safaris, Dustry Tracks, Kwa Madwala Private Game Reserve, and many more.

Am a bit confused
At first the article states that the main idea of the app is for tourist safety. Which in itself is a very sad indictment.
But it then talks about the card system and offers? -O-

Looks like security is a feature of the information on the app, while the card is the"core business"?
