Bume River & Bume Road

The Bume River is a small seasonal stream, tributary of the Crocodile River, in the south of the Park.

The Bume Road (S26) follows part of the River in its south-east end. It is a scenic drive, about 20 km long, between S108 and S114.

Boyela Waterhole

Far North Region. The Boyela waterhole is on the H1-6, close to the S57 turnoff. You are almost guaranteed to see Elephant activity here, as the Northern Parts of Kruger has a large population of elephants, especially solitary bulls.

Boulders Bush Lodge

Situated about 25km south of Mopani. It is embedded in the rocky outcrops found in the north of the Park, hence its name.

It is managed form Mopani camp and has no reception area. It can accommodate a maximum of 12 persons at a time, but must be reserved en bloc. So it provides the opportunity for guests to enjoy complete privacy.

Baobab Hill

On the H1-8, about 7kms south of the turn off to Pafuri Border gate. Baobab hill was a landmark on one of the early trade routes going through the area. Hunters also used this route and it became known as the “Ivory Trail”. Some of the hunter’s names are also carved onto the tree. Baobab Hill used to be the first “outspan” or camp site (a plaque marks the spot) for migrant workers from the northern areas (what is now Mozambique), who had been recruited to work in the gold mines of the interior.

Baanbreker Waterhole

S142 (Shongololo Loop)
Northern Region

This Afrikaans word means “pioneer” or “trailblazer”. It was often used to describe Colonel Stevenson-Hamilton, who, as the first Warden of the KNP, won respect for his effective regulations as far as conservation of game and plants were concerned.

Bushman Base Camp

This is the tented camp for the 2-night Bushman's Wilderness Trail. It is a rustic camp with no electricity near Berg-en-Dal. The highlight of this wilderness trail is the chance to see San rock art found in the rocky parts of the south western corner of the park.
