Flavour of the Month - Mar/Apr 2019: S30 Salitje Road

The S30 Salitje Road turns off the H12, just after the high-level bridge over the Sabie River. The road is named after the Shangaan chief who ruled the area just before the ground was proclaimed.
The S30 follows the Sabie river, and elephants and waterbuck can often be seen in the riverbed. After a few kilometers the road turns away from the river into mixed woodlands and then towards grassland plains.

Flutts!
Your choice?
This is a long road of two halves: the western half follows the Sabie river closely, while the eat swings over to join the Tshokwane roads, entering the different vegetation zone there.

Funny story.....
So one morning a few years ago, I was driving along this road with my son sitting next to me.
Around where the elephant exclusion zone is. Came up to this car doing about 10km/h. We were going a bit faster, and as I passed him, I got evil looks from the family in this car.
A few hundred meters round the next bend, a leopard crossed the road right in front of my car, disappearing quickly into the bush heading towards the Sabie. Too close for my big lens.
Anyway, car we had passed pulls up to me and asks what we were looking at. I point to the thick bush next to the river and said there was a leopard in there some where.
And I drove off.
Should have seen the looks on their faces. My son and I laughed about it for the rest of the drive.

The S30 was where I saw my first ever kill!! This pic was taken sometime in the early 80s by my dad. There was another lioness in the grass who flushed out a warthog and the one in the road grabbed it! She took it into the grass so we couldn't see what was happening but it wasn't nice to hear the squealing, and then the breaking bones!

Not too sure, if you have only driven it once

On the other hand, there is very little left
