* Update on Jazz *

Little giraffe had a slight rise in body temperature yesterday so our vet came to check up on him. He has been given another dose of antibiotics and we cooled him down with some wet towels as it was incredibly hot and humid weather too. His temperature came down nicely and his still drinking well.

Many of you commented on the red glow in Jazz's one eye. This is caused by blood pooling in the front chamber of the eye during the first 24 hours when baby was comatose. We have been treating accordingly and our vet is in contact with an eye specialist who assisted with Thula the blind rhino in 2016. It seems that the eye is slowly starting to clear up from the top and the prognosis looks good for now.

We will be introducing some branches into the room to keep baby busy - giraffe calves feed on solid foods from very earlier on - but for now it presents something interesting in his environment. Baby cant go outside yet because of the eye treatments.

* Jazz *

We have decided that INSTINCT is a wonderful thing. It may just be the best thing in the world. Remember Jazzy is just 7 days old. The images speak for themselves. We will post some videos later. ❤️🦒

Incredible that the little one has made it (for the time being) not to talk about the instinct of the dog which is something that logic cannot explain :shock: ^Q^ ^Q^

* Update Jazz 🦒 *

Baby Jazz is doing very well and is getting stronger every day. His eye is getting better each day too which means he will be able to go outside soon 🌞. The photos speak for themselves.

Jazz seems to have caused quite a stir around the World. Our Team and Jazz's owners at Morongwane Game Heritage would like to thank everyone for all their love, prayers and messages of support for this little giraffe baby. Your messages and kind words give us the strength to continue through the long sleepless nights of babysitting and tough days. All we can say is thank you so much ❤️

* Update Jazz & Hunter *

Amazingly the past 2 or 3 days our AP Dog Hunter has noticed that his giraffe friend Jazz, has been feeling a lot better. Hunter now has the peace of mind it seems to leave Jazz for short periods to catch up with his brother Duke and his favourite activity, swimming in the water troughs. It doesn't take him long to pop in the room to check up on Jazz though, and he still sleeps in the room with the carers and Jazzy.
