I was thinking the answer will come from you
I stumble by accident on the name (old dictionary).. seems to me the name Dishwasher is used in the UK and in India(washerwomen).
- Motacilla Lugumbris - pied wagtail -

Obviously the British Isles sub-species of the White Wagtail
Motacilla alba is referred to as dishwasher

Obviously?

I have NO idea what this question was about, or what was so obvious about the answer, though I DO think it is an opportunity to teach us non-birders something.
As Ricky Ricardo said to Lucy on oh so many occasions: "' 'splain it to me, Lucy..."
This one

was way over my head.

The Pied Wagtail has many local names, but the ones referring to dishwasher are Peggy Dishwater, Polly Dishwasher, Nanny Washtail and Molly Washer.
Some believe that the name originated from the times that women washed at the river or streamside and created muddy pools that the wagtails love. Another theory is that the stick used to beat washing was used in a movement that resembled the wagging tails of the birds. The likely explanation is that the movement of the bird closely resembled the movement of women as they washed various items at the riverside.
