Flavour of the Month Sept-Oct 2019 De Laporte Waterhole and Surroundings
Posted: Sat Oct 12, 2019 10:53 am
De Laporte is a well-established windmill a few km south of Skukuza on the H1-1.
This Area includes the H1-1 between Skukuza and the H3.
It was named a former Park Ranger, Cecil Richard de Laporte. It was his management of the Park during the First World War, that did not enamour him to James Stevenson-Hamilton.
It is very near the parking lot, making for good viewing opportunities. Nearby attractions include Mathekenyane Hill lookout (Granokop). Big Five sightings are common.

It was the 13th of October I think, to our surprise, an impala had fallen into the water hole and out of nowhere we get to see this male making a kill.
