@Richprins : thanks, our camping set up has slowly come together over the years through trial and error



I'm not too sure if you have heard about the resident meercats which are sometimes in the Mata Mata campsite.
Anyway, they tend to forage both in and out of the camp site and whilst they are wild, they are fairly habituated to humans in the camp.

Well, this evening, they were around and were showing off in grand style the cutest of pups imaginable

Apologies, once again for the delay. A lazy Sunday watching the Comrades marathon was the main reason

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay. Writers Block I think
Monday, ok let’s try and remember (with the help of photos and sketchy notes)
We left camp at gate opening time and set off down the Auob Rive[/i]r


Near Kalahari Tented Camp we had some cheetah spoor on the road, which resulted in a bit of excitement in the car, but unfortunately we could find no hide or trace of the cheetahs


Just before Craig Lockhart we had a glimpsing sighting of a lioness up on the dune on the right.





She quickly disappeared into the dunes


A bit further on we came across this small herd of gemsbok in the riverbed.
Always worth a photo or two


At 13th Borehole we came cross another lion. This time, a very flat male.
He must have had a busy night, as he wasn’t going anywhere


The section of road between 13th and Kamqua was pretty productive

We spotted this Cape Fox hiding under a bush



A bright yellow cape cobra on the side of the road




And this swallow tailed bee eater busy doing its morning thing



We carried on south after our break at the picnic site, and just before Montrose we realised why there were so few people at Kamqua

A traffic jam of note

We were stuck in the traffic jam and there was gridlock with idiots parking on both sides of the road, effectively blocking the traffic instead of leaving the one lane open for passing.
One of my wife’s characteristics is her lack of patience in this type of situation, which can lead to road rage (As many Cape Town taxis have found out to their detriment)

Well, I suppose it takes a woman.

After a lot of arm waving and shouting, she got the traffic moving, much to the appreciation of a lot of fellow motorists.

We could then see what the cause of the traffic jam was.

We were travelling south and the kill was on the right hand side of the road, so we only managed a few pics as we passed by
