I am also considering the new 7D mk 11 but I am bit nervous because of the reports I have heard about it. Yes I do know one has to learn to use a camera properly..it doesn't just take photos on it's own. Pleased to hear it likes the Canon 400 5.6 as that is the lens I would use. :)

Nan: low light and speed I believe it is nearly on par with the 5D, but is not full frame which in some cases is a advantage, Suggest try and get hold of one and test it before deciding

Living proof that Full Frame (Canon) and FX (Nikon) is the ONLY way if you want IQ..I haven't used a Crop sensor since my first camera a D200 since then its been FX all the way ..big smile at the improved IQ ..D700, D3s and D800 and soon to be D4S or D5 for the ultimate low light ability ..jeez I miss my D3S!!

nan, from what I've heard the 7Dii is a nice step up from the first version... particular improvements that a friend of mine noticed after upgrading from the 7D recently were the autofocus and significant improvement in ISO range and noise reduction on higher ISO

The benefit of the crop sensor is that you're closer to the action already with an inherent 1.6x zoom when compared to a full frame camera like the 5Diii. The resolution of the 7Dii isn't quite up to the 5Diii but it's close enough that you would probably lose image quality on the 5Diii if cropping to the same frame as a photo taken on the 7Dii

Also good is that it has the same video functionality as on my 70D which I can honestly say is miles above anything I have had previously on a DSLR. I know that's not what we buy them for, but it's nice to know it's there if I want it

I have been helping a friend set his camera up and have been impressed at all the functions it's got, What I really liked is it has a much more user friendly in the access to the camera functions and also has a time-lapse timer function on it.

I say for the price and what it offers
