Orpen is quite a complex and confusing gate system these days!

There are actually three gates, an outside picket a few km out where the tar road enters the Park. Then the "new" gate complex where one checks in, about a km before Orpen Camp:

Unless you are staying at Orpen, Tamboti or Maroela, you don't have to dismount there, I don't think, and can just show your permit and continue.

(To the left is SA Wildlife College on the Hans Hoheisen property, all part of greater Kruger.)

Pride of lion on a kill
"Very exciting, pride with 2 white lions killed a Buffalo"
H7, just outside Orpen Gate, they walked through the petrol station. Lions have moved off towards &Beyond Ngala.
