Re: Needs Attention: Kruger Park

*** visited Skukuza on 10 Dec. 2011, and found that both laundromats in the campsite only had one washer each, instead of the 3 washers and 3 dryers each intended and provided for. There were queues of tourists at both laundromats.

Also, the ladies' toilet facilities at reception and the filling station were in a shocking condition the following day, not having been cleaned by 10:00 in the morning, with one broken and overflowing with paper.

Reply received from Skuks Duty Manager 22-03-2012:

Thank you for taking the time in giving us feedback regarding ***’s visit to Skukuza Camp and on behalf of Management and staff please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience caused.

Unfortunately we did have problems with the older washing and dryer machines and new ones were ordered; gladly to report that we have received 4 new washing and 2 dryer machines. Currently each Laundromat has 2 new washing and 1 new dryer machine.

The condition regarding the ablution blocks at reception and the filling station were addressed immediately and we will strive for this not to happen again; ongoing monitoring will take place to ensure clean and fresh ablutions at all times.

Independent verification and minitoring required please.

The kitchenette sink was also blocked - took for ever to let the dishwater out. Thanks! Pretoriuskop still gets 100% for their cleanliness every time and Olifants
was also on par this time.

Response received re. Lower Sabie no. 80 (02-04-2012), from Hospitality Services manager:

My humble apologies for the delayed response, and upon investigation on the matter my findings are as follows:

· With reference to the shower door not closing, this was caused by the loose rubber-edging/moulding on the glass shower-door. (Fixed),

· The leaking or dripping shower rose has been replaced with energy/ water saving shower roses for all units. (See attached photo)

· The blocked dishwasher drain system has been unblocked, had some fats and rice particles. (See clean dishwasher photo attached).

Hope that you will find this in order, and thak you once again for the feedback,

When he asked for the manager a surly individual arrived and said they only cook so much meat and when its finished its finished. Refowarded two days ago, (11-04-2012) but outsourced company not responding...not Sanparks' lack of willingness!

(20-04-2012) All complaints based on December 2011 visit, if repaired cudos \O to Sanparks (but I doubt it)

Satara

Fire extinguisher infront of bungalow E124 - water leakage, for a camp with a water shortage this is defintly a no no! (Ok that shortage was in December  )

Bungalow E 124 - toilet can't flush / blocked

Skukuza

Safari tent 306 - table in need of new rubber support, standing on 3 legs (Dunno where this table is now, we swapped it with another tent  )
Therefor IMHO all tables needs to be checked, won't hurt

We were staying in Safari Tent 103 in Skukz.

Three of the beds had brown covers, the other one a green cover. I could still live with this. BUT the covers were so dusty that I was appalled. We tippy-toed around the covers, as not to disturb the dust layer.

These were the two bedside tables:

What an absolute disgrace!!!

My fingers itched to give it a good scrub, remove the old paint, put primer on it, and cover it with a nice cherry-wood spray paint.

KNP staff are clearly not tourism-orientated? I am getting confused here. KNP is no longer sanctuary/preservation-orientated, nor tourism-orientated? How very, very sad?!!!
