Pafuri Picnic Site
Re: Pafuri Picnic Site
I went there once a long time ago.
At this point, I'd like to be frank with all my friends and say that Pafuri picnic sight is only fot the purist. There is no hotel, no pool, not “casino” or Mac D's take away. (Give it time, I'm sure someone will come up with an idea along this line before long. Some "tenderpreaneur" with a vison for what KNP should be and not what it is....)
Pafuri is a very quiet little piece of paradise. There are no spectacular views, just the absolute essence of nature. It is what the entire KNP should be like. Little or no human intervention and less development. I deeply regret that I have only managed to get there once. It is a place of such spectacular tranquillity that one might be able to forget that the world is such a humdrum rat-race and is over populated. If ever I think of a perfect place to escape this world we live in, Pafuri has to be the place to go.
Is it so wrong to want to keep such places in tact, as they are?

Re: Pafuri Picnic Site
If you look up the word Pafuri in the dictionary you'll see a pic of this aminal.....
The most nyalas I've EVER seen on a Kruger trip.....
But a pic can't capture the magic of this place, you have to experience it for yourselves!!

July 2013
A lot of sand covering the site these days, I wonder why?

River view from p/site changed dramatically since my last visit in 2010

Re: Pafuri Picnic Site
Here's an extract from an ongoing TR?T of mine:
Day 3 Part 7 - last:
Now we returned to Pafuri picnic spot, late in the afternoon, which is quite a privilege when one stays at TEBA!
(And a good alibi should one perhaps have just destroyed the Luvhuvhu Bridge, I'm sure you would agree!)
Animals take the place over as soon as the throng of visitors leaves...
Frank does his final chores:
So I went to the Eastern ablution Block and did a very clever little bit of trick photography!
You put the camera on the wall, take a pic, and a few hours later take another pic without moving the camera! A brillant technique devised by myself and NASHA! (Sorry, NASA!)
Lots of Pafuri stuff here: https://africawild-forum.com/viewtopic.p ... 8&start=60
